Director of Software Development

Overview
The director of software development will plan, direct, and coordinate all activities associated with creating software across multiple functional areas and products. The director of software development will prioritize and allocate projects, products, and resources with the assistance of architects and developers. They will also participate in the strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of software products. It will also be their responsibility to hire and review development resources.

Responsiblities

  • Manage a team of software engineers, delivering quality, on-time, and on-budget projects.
  • Work with the VP of Applications and Product Manager, contribute to evolution of product architecture, develop and communicate product roadmap, with planned release cycles, and believable resource plans.
  • Provide leadership in the use of best practices in agile methodology and design for repeatability, usability, and testability.
  • Manage the day-to-day development aspects of multiple projects; requirements documentation and analysis, scoping, planning, engineering, implementation, and new product introduction.
  • Define and track team deliverables and release schedule using issue tracking system and source repository.
  • Run daily scrums to assess risks in current schedule, clear blocks, and adjust roadmap deliverables.
  • Utilize your considerable people skills, monitor and manage project deliverables and progress through continuous communication with the team of software engineers to meet timelines and pre-defined release cycles.
  • Monitor scope changes through the life of the software development.
  • Problem solve, multi task, coordinate and schedule the team of software engineers, equipment and materials in accordance with the projects plan to ensure visibility and predictability.
  • Develop and/or evolve development guidelines to improve consistency across products and to adherence to architecture.
  • Assess and, where appropriate, develop plans to integrate third party tools, add-ons, and interfaces that strengthen the product suite.
  • As required, and consistent with your own development skills and experience, develop various features and/or improve the product.
  • When and where appropriate, hire new resources to strengthen the software development team.

Qualifications

  • Must have a university degree. Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of software development management experience within a high technology environment, managing programs in the $.5 Million to $2 Million range.
  • Minimum of 5 years of software development experience as a senior engineer, ideally developing and implementing enterprise applications based on .NET and MS SQL Server (preferably including MVC, Web Services, Silverlight, WCF, HTML)
  • Proficiency in agile/scrum methodology and use of issue tracking (JIRA) and source repository (SVN, TFS, or similar)
  • Must be performance driven, detail and results oriented.
  • Must have excellent leadership, time management, communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be a strong team and individual motivator.
  • Proficiency in English, written and spoken.

Overview
As a BI Developer you’ll work on developing major capabilities in our Profit Amplification Suite such as database design, functions for data warehousing reports and applications, Development and maintenance of multi-dimensional cubes using SSAS. You’ll be a technical leader collaborating with Project Managers, Product managers and other developers to deliver solutions for our customers and partners, and increase value for the company.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of additional relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience working in Lean/Agile delivery environments including SCRUM/XP
  • Strong Business Intelligence experience and skills.

  • Highly experienced with MDX query development, scenario specific query building and optimization

Business Systems Consultant – Retail Software Solutions

Profitect’s Global Professional Services is currently looking for experienced Engineers to serve as Technical Consultant as part of the US team.

Responsibilities
Our Business Consultant represents Profitect during the entire engagement and is accountable for the professional services outcomes of the project, including delivering the solution on-time and on-budget according to the overall project objectives established by the steering team.

The Business Consultant will work closely with the account manager, project manager, application architect, other business consultants, trainers, coaches and integration engineers.

  • Participate in the design phase of the project
  • Serve as the focal point for the customer for all implementation aspects
  • Create and maintain the design, configuration and implementation project plan for the engagement with the technical team
  • Identify and manage risks
  • Communicate project status internally to the project steering team,
  • Work with internal and external resources to ensure that all aspects of the project are being addressed
  • Work with engineers, who are responsible for the setup and integration of the solution
  • Train and coach the system administrators and end users for best amplification of the solution’s benefits
  • Ensure that the project meets client expectations and that clients are entirely satisfied with results, and finally
  • Manage the successful transition of the client’s project through each of the relevant phases

Desired Skills & Experience
2-5 years’ experience in implementing large scale software projects ideally in a retail environment, with emphasis on software solutions which requires integration to large data feeds from the customer’s systems.

  • Analytical thinker with the ability to translate complex business needs into feasible, valuable solutions
  • Deep understanding of the retail landscape and business challenges
  • Technical qualifications centered around business intelligence, workflow and task management
  • Experience managing all phases of the project life cycle, including running project meetings

Responsibilities

  • Participate in data mapping sessions of the implementations
  • Install the Profitect product on the customer’s servers

Profitect’s Global Sales Unit is currently looking for Sales Account Managers to be part of the US team.

Responsibilities
As a Sales Account Manager you will be responsible for selling the full suite of Profitect applications in a national Region. You must be willing to travel as necessary.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.

Target accounts are Retailers in the 500 + billion level.

Preferred Qualifications

Sales Consultant

Profitect’s Global Sales Unit is currently looking for Sales Consultants to be part of the US team.

Responsibilities
As a Sales Consultant, you will be an active part of closing the business by providing pre-sales technical and functional support to prospective clients and partners. You will assist in the evaluation of the product to ensure the process proceeds smoothly and with minimal supervision.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide presales support to Customers and Account Managers
  • Provide and present technical product demonstrations including advanced product features and benefits
  • Support the sales team on how to offer and present Profitect to their customers
